

Doris Margaret (Wren) Dowling, 96, of Gering, died Monday, September 1, 2008, at Heritage Estates in Gering. Her funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 5, 2008, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Glen Sparks and Justin Reynolds officiating. Interment will be in the East Lawn Cemetery at Minatare. Friends may visit from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Friday at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel. Memorials have been established to Prairie Haven Hospice and Diabetes Foundation. Doris was born November 22, 1911, at Hartington, Nebraska to William and Nellie (Drain) Wren. She married Otto Dowling on February 17, 1931. They lived in eastern Nebraska until moving to Minatare in 1974. In 2000, Doris moved to Wel Life Assisted Living in Scottsbluff and was there six years. In 1941, she heard the Gospel and remained faithful. She leaves to mourn three sons, Gerald (Ilene) Dowling of Olympia, Washington, Donald (Carmen) Dowling of Napa, California and Howard Dowling of Scottsbluff; one daughter, Lois DeWitt of Scottsbluff; one sister, Mildred Jensen of Laurel; 17 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Otto in 1983; son-in-law, Larry DeWitt; three sisters; one brother, grandson, Sean Healer; and twin great-grandchildren.
