

Dwight Wayne Jay, 75, of Scottsbluff lost his courageous battle with cancer Thursday, September 1, 2005 at Regional West Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Garry Schick officiating. Interment will be in West Lawn Cemetery in Gering with military rites by the Nebraska National Guard. Dwight was born March 16, 1930 in Minatare, NE to Dane and Mable (Ely) Jay. He grew up and spent all of his life in Scottsbluff, NE. He was in the United States Army from September 1951 to September 1953 serving our country during the Korean Conflict. He married Eileine Benzel September 7, 1955 in Mitchell, NE. Dwight farmed with his wife, owned a gas station, was a diesel mechanic, sold cars, and owned his own trucking company. He retired when he was 65. He loved farming and being outside. His pride and joy was his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed stories and reminiscing. Left to celebrate his life is his wife Eiliene, daughter Sandra (Ted) Stricker, Gering, NE; son Dwight D. Jay of Avoca, IA; grandchildren: Amber Hoff of Scottsbluff, NE and Jonathan Jay of Avoca, IA, step grandchildren: Blake, Theodore, Cameron, Brittany and Shay; sister: Ladonna Dunham of California, brothers: Calvin Jay, Scottsbluff, NE, Art (Marilyn) Jay of California, Roger (Judy) Jay of Tennessee, and Dane W. (Stevie) Jay of Arizona; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dane and Mable Jay of Minatare, NE, in-laws: Fred and Mary Benzel of Scottsbluff, NE, brother: Robert Jay of Scotttsbluff and a niece and a nephew.
