Viistation will be Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel. Eddie was born, Edward Christian Simon, on September 2, 1947 in Scottsbluff to Edward Christian Gustav Simon and Grace May (Roberts) Simon. He was born a “special” child to a very lucky family who loved and devoted their lives to him. Eddie’s early education was provided by, his family and Bill and Betty Howe of the Opportunity Center in Scottsbluff. He participated in the Special Olympics for many years, and amassed a large collection of ribbons and medals. He was inducted into the Nebraska Special Olympics Hall of Fame in 1992. At the time of his death he was working at the Bargain Bin, in Scottsbluff, where he was loved and spoiled by all of his “girls”. After Daddy and Mama died, Eddie was cared for by, his sisters Esther and Edna May and his brother Cecil, whose family took him to Nebraskaland Days every year. Eddie loved the Bargain Bin, Bonanza, Gunsmoke, ABC-TV, Jerry Dishong, Elvis, Oprah, Mash, puzzles, Star Wars, his dog Bootsie and the TV Guide. His favorite activities were bowling, going for a coke at Scotty’s Drive-In with his sisters, and golfing with his brother Cecil. As a child he traveled extensively with his parents, who were house movers. Later his travels included trips to Hawaii and Alaska. Eddie was lucky enough to be a cancer survivor, thanks to his buddy Dr. Bjorling, who he thought was a giant. Eddie called him Vince and carried a picture of him in his wallet. He is survived by his sister Esther Johnston and sister and her husband Edna and Bob Lofing all of Scottsbluff, brothers and sisters-in-law: Jim and Judy Simon of Laramie, WY, Kenneth and Rita Simon of Anchorage, Alaska, Cecil and Dorothy Simon of North Platte, NE, Howard and Billie Jean Simon of Scottsbluff, Inge Simon of Arizona, Sandy Simon of Scottsbluff and Audrey Simon of Cheyenne. He will be loved and missed forever by his nieces and nephews Kay, May, Janice, Colleeen, Cindy, Bob, Steve, Kathy, Karen, Christine, Vickie, Jennifer, Debra, Howie, Tricia, Mike, Michele, Doug, Deneen, Kendra, Lisa and his great, and great-great nieces and nephews and all of their families. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Robert and J.B., brother-in-law: Ralph Johnston, nephews: Stephen Simon, Rick Simon, Greg Simon, Allan Johnston, great-great niece Stevie Lynn Propp, infants Elizabeth Ann Johnston, Robin Jayne Heilbrun and Tyler Wayne Colburn. We would like to thank God for giving Eddie to our family to love and enjoy. His hugs and kisses will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know him
