

Went home to his Lord and Savior on August 22,2026.
He was born William Edwin Gresham to George Goode Gresham and Blanche Miriam (Fessenden) Gresham 12/30/1936 in Albuquerque, NM. His father died in 1941 and when his mother later married Lewis Walrath, he adopted him and they changed his name to Edwin Gresham Walrath, as he was always called “Eddie”.
He played the cornet in the band at Highland High School and then at New Mexico State where he graduated in 1959. He was also a member of the US National Guard band.
He married Rose Mary Stewart February 26, 1960. They had 2 daughters Miriam Louise and Kimberly Gay.
Ed enjoyed his work as an environmentalist for the village of Homewood, IL for 30 years and was especially proud of building the recycling program.
Ed and Rose Mary were charter members of Deer Creek Christian Church and remained active with their wonderful church family for nearly 50 years until they moved to Nebraska in 2020 to be closer to their daughter.
Proceeding him in death are his parents, his infant son Jay Stewart Walrath, daughter Miriam Sloop, granddaughter Kimberly Joy Sloop and brothers in law Bob and Jack Stewart.
He is survived by his wife Rose Mary of 66 years, daughter Kim (Jeff) Holloway, grandchildren Andrew (Kate), Micah, Hannah (Tanner) Havens, Matthew, Nathan (Kiara), Kylie (Caleb) Payne, great grandchildren George, Elouise, Winifred, Marlee, Evelyn, Liam and Ike. sisters Helen Cambell and Cindy Scerri, son in law David Sloop, sisters in law Virginia Cordova and Cheryl Stewart and several nieces and nephews.
Ed leaves behind a legacy of faith and family, he will be missed and lovingly remembered.
