

Her funeral service will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Al Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 1-7 p.m. at the chapel. Memorials have been established to the Festival of Hope and the family will designate an additional memorial at a later date. Eleanor was born March 11, 1931 to Theodore and Osa Wilson on a farm in rural Furnas County, Nebraska. Years later, the family moved to Scottsbluff. Eleanor graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1949. She worked at St. Mary’s Hospital as a nurses aid, then moved to Oxford, Nebraska and worked in the hospital there. She married Archie B Casteel October 21, 1953 in Oxford, Nebraska. After he was honorably discharged from the Army, they moved to Rupert, Idaho. They were blessed with one child, Patricia. They returned to the Scottsbluff area in 1958.
Eleanor was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, where she was the pianist for many years, taught Sunday school and helped with the women’s ministries. Later she attended Northfield Assembly Church and helped with the Prime Timers Group.
For a couple of years, she worked as a home health aide. She was a stay at home mom and devoted much of her time to the church. After the loss of her husband in 1977, she went to work at Baily’s Town and Country in the deli/restaurant specializing in their desserts.
While residing at Heritage Estates, she enjoyed the social activities, bible studies and especially playing Bingo.
The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Estates for the wonderful and loving care they provided and RWMC staff and Regional West Hospice.
Survivors include her daughter Patricia (Jeff) Schledewitz; grandsons Scott (Trisha) and Grant (Chastine); great grandchildren Kalie, Luke, and Alec all of Scottsbluff along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Archie Casteel, twin great grandchildren, brothers William and Cecil, sisters Elise, Evelyn and Erma; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
