

Eliza L. “Peggy” Leis, 93, of Scottsbluff, went to be with Jesus, Tuesday, December 4, 2007, at Golden Living Center in Scottsbluff. Her funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 8, 2007, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Tom Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park at Scottsbluff. Friends may visit from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to KCMI Radio. Peggy was born on August 23, 1914, at Bryant, Missouri to George and Anna (Cowen) Johnson. She grew up and attended school in Missouri, South Dakota and Tryon, Nebraska. She was united in marriage to William “Bill” Leis Sr. on May 11, 1935, in Scottsbluff. They lived and farmed in Minatare, Bridgeport, Bayard and Lyman. In 1965, they moved to Morrill. Bill preceded her in death in 1983, and she then moved to Scottsbluff. She also lived with her son Bill Jr. in Nevada and later with her daughter Betty in Oregon returning to Scottsbluff three weeks ago. She was a member of the Independent Baptist Church at Morrill. Survivors include her children, Jeanette (Jack) Schnell of Scottsbluff, Betty (Landis) West of Echo, Oregon and Bill Jr. (Barbara) Leis of Henderson, Nevada; grandchildren, Stan Schnell, Gary West, Kevin Schnell, Margie Leis, Ron West, Jon Leis, Dean West, Michelle Cox, Bill Leis III and Rod Schnell; 14 great-grandchildren; and brother, Hershel (Audrey) Johnson of Broadwater. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Cleve, Walter, Elzie, George and Everett; four sisters, Velma, Bessie, Golda and Melba; and a daughter, Barbara Leis.
