

Elizabeth Lucas, 92, of Scottsbluff, died Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Emerald Court in Scottsbluff. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Emmanuel Congregational Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor John Adams officiating. Cremation was held at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory. The Elizabeth Lucas Memorial Fund has been established. Elizabeth was born October 6, 1919 in Green Knoll, Colorado to Jesse Purl and Leona Pearl (Moore) Honstead. She was the fifth child of nine, five brothers and three sisters. She graduated from Dighton, KS High School in 1937. She received her nurses training at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, KS. She married Maurice Lucas April 9, 1944 at Eagle Pass, TX to this union three children were born Wiletta, Jerry and Jay. Elizabeth was a surgical nurse for several hospitals in Kansas and before moving to Grand Forks, ND where she was office nurse and nutrition lab nurse from 1961-1984. Elizabeth was a member of the Federated Church of Grand Forks and the Emmanuel Congregational Church after moving to Scottsbluff. She is survived by her children, Wiletta (Alan) Stanlake, St. Martin, MN, Jerald (Teri) Lucas, Scottsbluff, NE and Jay (Judy) Lucas, Sioux Falls, SD, 10 Grandchildren, and sister Luella Baxter, Gainesville, MO. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband and 7 siblings.
