

Ellen I. (Harrison) Castiaux, 86, died October 23, 2010 at the Residency Care Center in Scottsbluff. Cremation has taken place at Sunset Memorial Park and her ashes will be scattered at a later date. As per her request, no services will be held. Ellen was born November 12, 1923 in McGrew, Nebraska. She grew up in Morrill, Nebraska and attended school there graduating in 1941. She attended Hastings College until WWII started. She moved to Oregon to live and work with her aunt and uncle. There she met and married Jesse E. Castiaux from San Francisco, California who was in the Army band at the time. They lived in California for six years and had two daughters there before moving back to Morrill. They moved to Scottsbluff in 1958 where Jesse opened his own business and Ellen worked as a private secretary to the pathologist at the hospital. She loved to play golf and bridge and was active in Eastern Star and Job’s Daughter and was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Scottsbluff. Ellen and her husband, Jesse, lived in Bullhead City and Sun Lakes, AZ until his death in 1992. She moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado with her brother, Wally Harrison, until she moved to Northfield Villa in Gering in 2002. She is survived by her two daughters, Janice (Wayne) Hofmann of Scottsbluff and Carolyn (Dick) Schlager of Florence, AZ; four granddaughters, Angie (Brian) Kubik, Heidi (Schane) Adams, Jessica (Joe) McMullen, and Nicole (Dameon) Hahn; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and three brothers.
