

Elton Hanson Peterson, 80, of Scottsbluff, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at his home. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2007 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel with Tom Perkins officiating. Interment will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2007 at the Kearney Cemetery in Kearney with Pastor Marvin Kelling officiating. Military rites will be given by the Nebraska National Guard. Memorials may be given to the Farm And Ranch Museum of Gering or to the donor’s choice. Elton was born October 13, 1926 in Kearney, NE to Tuttle and Myrtle (Hanson) Peterson. He attended and graduated from Riverdale High School in 1944. He joined the U. S. Army and served with the 1395th Engineer Construction Battalion in Korea and was honorably discharged in December of 1946. “Pete” returned to the Riverdale area and farmed until he went to work for Great Western Sugar Company as an agriculturist, retiring in November 1988. He married his high school sweetheart Betty Lou Butler in 1947. She passed away in 1965 and he married Betty Walker in 1970. Survivors include his wife Betty; son Dr. Dan (Linda) Peterson of Scottsbluff; stepson Robert Walker of Denver, CO; stepdaughter Chris Walker of Thornton, CO; brothers: Lenard (Alfreda) Peterson, Deerfield Beach, FL and Waldo Peterson of Fargo, ND; sister: Regina Miller of Rancho Mirage, CA; sisters-in-law: Arlene Peterson and Norma Peterson of Kearney, NE; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Betty, brothers: Harold and Lee Peterson; sister: Lorene Wenzlick and Great Grandson Jordan Walker.
