Estevan “Tio” Hernandez, 72 died Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 23, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Scottsbluff with Father Phil Flott and Father Gerald Harr officiating. Cremation will follow the service. A graveside service will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery. A rosary will be Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at the church. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel. “Tio” was born August 3, 1934 at New Braunfels, Texas, the son of Santago and Petra Luna Hernandez. He was raised and educated in New Braunfels, TX. He lived and worked as a farm laborer in Lubbock, TX, Greeley, CO. and the Scottsbluff area. He was a loving, caring and compassionate. He would never hesitate to give up himself to help others. He cared for his mother for many years until her death. He enjoyed activities associated with the Terry Carpenter Senior Center. Even though he did not have a family of his own, he had 35 nieces and nephews and 81 extended great nieces and nephews. He loved his sisters Juanita Carrillo, Conception Cantu and Guadalupe (Moses) Escamilla, nieces and nephews and dear friends with all his heart. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
