

Ferrell James Ingram passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at Heritage Estates in Gering. At his request cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Friday, Sept 11, at 11:00 AM at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ed Hunzeker officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Navy. A memorial has been established to Regional West Medical Center Foundation. He was born with his twin brother, Harold on the family farm near Minden, Nebraska on July 10, 1920 to Raymond and Hazel (Ferrell) Ingram. He attended rural school and graduated from Minden High School. He enlisted in the navy in January of 1941. He was sent to Great Lakes Naval Training Station and then assigned to the USS Maryland in Bremerton, Washington which sailed to Hawaii that April and arrived at Pearl Harbor in August of 1941. He was a gunner’s mate second class on the USS Maryland when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. He served on the USS Maryland for 5 years in the South Pacific and then one year on the USS Midway in the Atlantic. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in December of 1946. He married Merilyn Philips of Holdrege, Ne. on May 28, of 1945. He worked for KN Energy for 34 years, from 1947 until 1981. At the time of his retirement he was Superintendent of Measurement for the Western Region in Scottsbluff, Ne. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Merilyn of Scottsbluff; daughters, Sandy (Jeff) Legaard of Oregon and Jan (Steve) Taylor of Scottsbluff; grandchildren, Kris Legaard of Idaho, Brenna (Scott) Legaard Fournier of Oregon, Kasey (Erin) Legaard of Maine, and Leigh (Chris) Parker of Iowa; great-grandchildren, Aaron Fournier, Finn Legaard, and Addison Parker. Preceding him in death were his parents and brothers, Wallace, Leo, Harold, and Clair.
