

Frederick J. Charles, 69, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska passed away on March 8, 2017 after a short battle with cancer. Honoring Fred’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at the Trails West YMCA camp; the Kiwanis Lodge on Sunday, June 11th, 2017. Tributes of sympathy may be left for the family at www.dugankramer.com.
Fred was born in Menominee, Michigan on May 17, 1947 to Frederick A. and Lillian (Gustafson) Charles. He attended and graduated from Menominee High School. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army in May of 1972 after serving his country in Germany. He attended Lake Superior State College.
On September 25, 1971 Fred and Lynn D. Hranach were united in marriage and eight years later their family was complete with the birth of their daughter, Jessica. He lived life to the fullest, always working on a project or wondering how he could improve on something. He was a perfectionist in all aspects of his life.
After retiring from the U.P. Railroad in 2012, he spent summers building a cabin on the river in Marinette, Wisconsin with his brother Roy. He was a member of the American Legion, Gering Post.
Fred is lovingly remembered by his wife Lynn of Scottsbluff, NE; daughter Jessica (Brian) and granddaughter Joslyn of Gretna, NE, who always came first to him; sister Sally (Lee) Fayta; brothers Roy (Kathy) Charles and Gary (Carol) Charles, all of Menominee, MI, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
