

Genia L. Blankenship, age 37, of Gering, died Wednesday, June 28, 2006, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. A funeral mass will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 1, 2006, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Scottsbluff with Father Don Buhrman officiating. Interment will be in Creighton Valley Cemetery at Melbeta. Visitation is from 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff. A vigil service will be at 7:00 P.M., Friday at the funeral home.. Genia was born November 23, 1968, at Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Darryl and Cheryl (Kehn) Hoffman. She grew up and attended schools in Scottsbluff and graduated from the Scottsbluff High School in 1986. She then attended Western Nebraska Community College at Scottsbluff for two years. On September 24, 1999, she married Joe Blankenship at Lake Tahoe and they were blessed with a daughter, Katie Jo. She had worked for Spectrum Photography, Regional West Medical Center, Scotts Bluff County and was currently employed by University of Nebraska Extension Office. She loved photography, riding motorcycles and most of all was devoted to her daughter. Survivors include her husband, Joe; daughter, Katie Jo; mother, Cheryl Branbeck (Steve Weimer) of Gering; father, Darryl Hoffman of Denver, Colorado; sisters, Allison (Brad) Vigneaux of Springfield, Missouri and Billie (Brian) Haynes of Grand Forks, North Dakota; six nieces and nephews; grandmothers, Velma Hoffman of Gering and Frieda Weimer of Scottsbluff. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Bill Branbeck.
