

Georgia Ann Schleicher, 86 of Scottsbluff, Nebraska passed away on February 13, 2009 at the Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Steve Meysing officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be an hour prior service at the chapel. She was born on July 26, 1922 to George and Edna (Hills) Meier of Lyman, Nebraska. Georgia graduated from Lyman High School in 1940 and married Gene Schleicher on August 29, 1942. They began farming in the Lyman area in 1945, after Gene returned from the military service in England. In 1972, they moved to Scottsbluff, where Gene passed away in 1988. In 1975, Georgia enrolled at Nebraska Western College, and earned an Associates Degree with honors in 1977. After graduation, she managed the Scottsbluff office for moving and storage franchises for several years. Georgia relished her children and grandchildren, and enjoyed fishing, collecting antiques and traveling to destinations including Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico, Hawaii and Alaska. She rode in a hot air balloon at the Albuquerque Balloon Fest, in a submarine in the Cayman Islands, and enjoyed deep sea fishing in Cancun, Mexico and off the Oregon coast. Georgia is survived by her three sons and their families: Gerald and Pam Schleicher of Parkville, MO; Don and Jeanne Schleicher of Colorado Springs, and their children, Lee and Nicole; and Jeff and Marti Schleicher of Alliance, and their children, Sara and Jared. She is also survived by her sisters and brother, Elinor Sawdey of Fall River Mills, CA; Norma Childs of Redding, CA; Robert Meier of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
