

Gerald “Jerry” Wesley Hoffman, 70 of Gering, Nebraska passed away Friday, October 3, 2008 at his home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ronald Nuss-Warren officiating. Burial will follow at Potter Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the chapel. Jerry was born in Rushville, NE on April 5, 1938 to Duard and Leona (Bornemann) Hoffman. He graduated from Rushville High School in 1956. On February 14, 1960, he married Rachel Ann Grass. The couple lived in Rushville for a short time and then moved to Chadron until 1967. In 1967, they moved to Scottsbluff-Gering area, where they lived until 1976. During this time, Jerry worked for Nash Finch and Coop in meat merchandising. In 1976, Jerry and Rachel moved to Potter, where they purchased the Potter Meat Processing Plant, until 1985. Returning to the Scottsbluff-Gering area in 1985, where they currently resided. Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing. He loved sports, especially football and was an avid Cornhusker fan. Survivors include his wife, Rachel; his children, Stephanie Hoffman of Sunland, CA, Todd Hoffman of Gering, Terry Hoffman of Ogallala and Tim Hoffman of Melbeta; 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and his infant daughter, Sarah.
