

Geraldine Hineline, 95, formerly of Davenport, Nebraska, passed away August 9, 2012 in Scottsbluff. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Christ’s Lutheran Church in Davenport, Nebraska. Interment will follow at Edgar Cemetery in Edgar, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, memorials to honor the memory of Geraldine may be made to Prairie Haven Hospice, Two W. 24th Street, Suite 2300, Scottsbluff, Nebraska 69361. Geraldine was born February 21, 1917 in Chappell, Nebraska to John and Clara (Hansen) Nelson. The family moved to Edgar, Nebraska where she received her education. After high school, she taught school for a short time until she married Melvin “Heinie” Hineline on March 9, 1940. They moved to a farm near Davenport and worked side by side making a living for their three daughters. After leaving the farm, they moved into Davenport and Heinie drove the school butt for 21 years and Geraldine worked in her huge garden, raising beautiful flowers in their big yard, complete with the trees they planted together. Due to declining health, she left the Davenport area in August of 2011 and moved to the Scottsbluff/Gering area, where her youngest daughter lived. Geraldine loved spending time with family and friends; she always had the coffee pot on, along with some homemade treats or fresh baked bread. She will be remembered for her cooking skills, love of reading and learning, playing cards, viewing the sunsets and her quick humor. Geraldine is survived by her three daughters, Jean (Duane) Catlett of Helena, MT, Diane (Bill) Oltman of Tacoma, WA, and Donna (Dick) DeForge of Scottsbluff, NE; five grandchildren, Chris (Katie) Catlett of Bozeman, MT, Michelle (Troy) Lyon of Golden, CO, Xan (J.R.) Johnson of Bellingham, WA, Mike (Kristie) Deforge of Lincoln, NE, and Mark (Andrea) DeForge of Lincoln, NE; four great-grandchildren, Mary and Becky Catlett, Camden Lyon, and baby Johnson due November; her sister Betties Bruns of Superior, NE, and special friend, Frances DeForge of Scottsbluff, NE. Geraldine is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a brother.
