

Harvey W. Amen, 82, of Scottsbluff, went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, December 6, 2007, at his home with his family by his side. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 10, 2007 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Brad Gustafson officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at Fairview Cemetery with military honors by the Nebraska National Guard. Cremation was held at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory. Harvey was born June 4, 1925 in Timnath, CO to John and Anna Marie (Paul) Amen. He came to Scottsbluff as a small child and graduated from Scottsbluff High School. He entered the Army Air Corps during WW II September 28, 1943. On January 28, 1945 Harvey and his aircrew was shot down over Germany and was taken POW for the duration of the war. He married Virginia Pittman June 24, 1945 in Minatare, NE. Harvey was honorably discharged from the Army on September 28, 1945. He returned to Scottsbluff and was a route salesman for various companies until his retirement in 1971. He was a property manager for several years following his retirement. Harvey enjoyed painting, photography, fishing, gardening and reading. He loved family gatherings, especially his 50th and 60th wedding anniversaries. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, deacon and volunteered in the church outreach program at Pine Ridge Reservation. He was also a member of Scottsbluff Elks Lodge #1367 and Admiral Dewey Post #1681 VFW. Harvey is survived by his wife: Virginia, son and daughter-in-law: Jon and Lynnett Amen, Livermore, CA; daughter and son-in-law: Rosemary and Greg Kanne, Keizer, OR; grandchildren: Christopher Wagner, Salem, OR, Andrea Null, Uniontown, PA, and Kristin Garcia, Brentwood, CA; 6 great grandchildren; sisters: Gloria (Edward) Brill, San Leandro, CA and Janice (Don) Milnes, Magalia, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Teri Null and grandson Tom
