

Helen Curry, 89, of Scottsbluff died Thursday, June 23, 2011 in her home. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Brad Gustafson officiating. Cremation was held at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory. A private family graveside will be held at Valley View Cemetery in Torrington, WY at a later date. A memorial has been established to Prairie Haven Hospice. Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Helen was born in Fairfax, SD on October 7, 1921, to Gottlieb and Elizabeth (Strecker) Korb. She graduated from high school in Hawk Springs, WY and worked as a florist for many years in Torrington, WY where she met and married Pepper (B.F.) Curry on December 31, 1948. They moved to Cody, Wyoming in 1953 and lived there until 1996 when they moved to Scottsbluff, NE. Helen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Cody. Many will remember the decorations she did each Christmas for that Church and for many friends’ weddings. She was an avid gardener to the last days of her life. She had many special friends and wrote letters faithfully. She especially loved her Cody Sewing Club, playing bridge, watching sports, bowling, taking drives, eating picnics and the list goes on. She is survived by: daughters Judy Gilmore and son-in-law Steve Gilmore of Cheyenne, WY and Jill Curry of Scottsbluff and grandchildren, Martin Gilmore of Arvada, CO and Gretchen Gilmore of Cheyenne. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and four sisters: Emma Flint, Bernice Persson, Dorothea Heckman, and Lorene Herdt and three brothers: Ben, Fred and Harold Korb.
