Henrietta “Hinnie” Greckel, 93, Scottsbluff died Monday, July 27, 2009 at Regional West Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ed Hunzeker officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Henrietta Greckel Memorial Fund has been established in care of the family to be designated at a later date. Friends may call at the funeral home between 1-8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Henrietta was born February 12, 1916 in Bloomfield, NE to Henry and Anna (Barnhardt) Ehlers. She grew up and received her education in Bloomfield, married Edward Greckel November 14, 1934. They farmed several years, later they operated Greckel’s Café at Crofton and Gering and operated the Mitchell Hotel and Sugar Shack. She worked at Scotty’s Drive Inn in Scottsbluff for several years. Henrietta loved spending time with her family, friends and loved to cook. Survivors include: children Mary Lee Merkel and Ron (Rose) Greckel; grandchildren: Kathy (Steve) Sauer, Robb (Lorrie) Greckel, Corey (Deb) Greckel, Kammie (John) Wilson, Nathan, Blake and Tawny Greckel, and Eric Wilson and four stepgrandchildren.
