

Henry G. “Hank” Green, age 84, of Minatare, died Sunday, May 7, 2006, at Pine Ridge, South Dakota. A funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, May 11, 2006, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Ray Venghaus officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park at Scottsbluff with military honors provided by the Nebraska National Guard. Friends may visit from 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M., Wednesday at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff. Henry “Hank” G. Green was born July 24, 1921 on a farmstead North of Scottsbluff. His parents were Kathryn (Honstein) and Conrad Green from Scottsbluff who were German emigrates from Russia. George Green, his younger brother of Minatare, is still living. Henry lived in the valley for most of his life. Henry loved to farm and raise livestock and at a young age, decided farming was going to be his livelihood. In 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Corp with aspirations to be a pilot. The Air Corp decided that he should be a top turret gunner of a B-17 bomber and was shipped over to England with the 8th Air Force “Bloody” 100th Bomb Group. There he flew thirty successful missions over Germany and France. After the end of the war, Henry came back to Scottsbluff, where he was successful in the cattle and farming business. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and one brother, wife Genvena, and son Steven. He is survived by his wife Sheila whom he married in June of 1992, his sons Mike (and Ramona) Green, Jeff Green, daughter Gretchen (and Jerry) Lotspeich, sons Greg (and Susan) Soule, Jeff (and Shaela) Soule, Stephen Soule, and Sharry Soule; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and Greta the beloved dog. Henry loved life, his family, friends, livestock and farming and was loved and well admired by all of his family and friends. Memorials can be given in memory to the Calvary Lutheran Church of Scottsbluff.
