Herbert LeRoy Richter

Herbert LeRoy Richter, 65, of Mitchell, passed away at his home, Thursday, June 2, 2011. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Rick Reisig officiating. Interment will follow at Mitchell City Cemetery. The Herbert Richter Memorial Fund has been established in care of the family. Friends may call at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 8. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com. Herbert was born July 16, 1945 in Mitchell to Kenneth and Rosella (Kelley) Richter. He received his early education in the Mitchell school system. In 1963 Herbert joined the United States Army as a welder and was honorably discharged in 1966. On June 14, 2002 he married Rose Mendoza in Gering and they made their home in Mitchell. Herbert was a member of the American Legion Post 124 and the Eagles Aerie #2998. He loved fishing, dancing, country music and karaoke, he especially liked to sing “Good Hearted Woman.” He had a special love for his companions Duke and Rusty. Herbert is survived by his wife, Rose, son, Chad (Dawn) Richter of Scranton, IA; daughter, Misty Richter of Cheyenne, WY; son, Philip Richter of Scottsbluff; sisters, Betty (David)Chvala of Gering, Doris Moore of Scottsbluff, Mary (Jerry) Pebley of Gering; brothers, Ron and Gerald Richter both of Scottsbluff; 5 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Herbert in death are his parents, son, Clint; daughter, Rachelle; and brothers, Kenney, Bob, Joe, and Vern.
