Janice Laree Becker

Janice Laree Becker, 68, of Minatare, died Thursday, December 21, 2006 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Kent Tibben officiating. Interment will be in West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Janice was born May 18, 1938 in Melbeta, NE to John Arthur and Etta Myrtle (Bartow) Parmenter. She received her education in Melbeta, graduating from Melbeta High School. She taught school for several years in rural schools and was also a Head Start teacher. She married Richard Becker May 5, 1961 in Julesburg, CO. They lived in Missouri for a short time before returning to the Bayard area where they resided before moving to Lake Minatare seven years ago. Janice loved children, and was a devoted mother and grandmother She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and a past member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Bayard. Survivors include her husband Richard; daughters and sons-in-law: Penny (Kent) Tibben, Danville, IL, Dianne (Roy) Dobrusky, Lincoln, NE and Toni Becker, Sheridan, WY; son and daughter-in-law: Rusty (Sarah) Becker of Ridgecrest, CA; brothers and sisters-in-law: Robert (Betty) Parmenter and Donald (Dot) Parmenter all of Melbeta, NE, and Doyle (Joanne) Parmenter of Oshkosh, NE; sisters and brother-in-law: Marie Lackey, Roseburg, OR, Gladys (Jerry) Doremus, Gering, NE, Mildred Fitts, Scottsbluff, NE, Dorothy Ault of Gering, NE and Barbara Broderick of Scottsbluff, NE; grandchildren: Ryan, Erin, Kaitlyn and Aidan Tibben and Tessa, Ross and Seth Dobrusky. Janice was preceded in death by her parents.
