Jerry was born November 26, 1963, in Scottsbluff, NE, to Alvin and Elaine Lebruska. He graduated from Mitchell High School where he demonstrated a unique talent for playing the alto and baritone saxophone. He met his future wife, Christine Yeager, while dragging Main in Scottsbluff. He then achieved a Bachelor of Agricultural Engineering from UNL. After graduating, he returned home to work for the family farm where he found a deep love and passion for farming. Jerry and Christine were united in marriage on May 17, 1986, and welcomed two children, Katy and Hannah. Jerry farmed for over 40 years in the Mitchell Sunflower area where he grew beans, corn, and sugar beets.
Jerry, certain of his salvation in Jesus and now walking with Him in heaven, was a devoted man of God and served in various leadership roles at Monument Bible Church. Jerry served as a deacon, usher, and director of the AWANA program. Some of Jerry’s most joyous moments were spent playing with his 2 grandchildren, thrifting in Colorado, splitting wood, attending farm auctions, target practicing with his favorite guns, listening to music on his stereo collection, chatting with neighbors on the roadside, planting and harvesting, “babysitting” cows on his fields in the wintertime, feeding cracked corn to birds, squirrels, rabbits (and occasional racoons), and laughing with so many people he called dear friends.
Jerry’s joyous, personable, intelligent, and humorous demeaner will be dearly missed. Until we are reunited with him again, we will honor his memory by being present with every person we encounter daily, and making time to talk and listen to them as was demonstrated so wonderfully by Jerry.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Christine (Yeager) Lebruska; daughter Katy (Bryce) Zavadil; grandchildren, Autumn and Elijah; daughter, Hannah Lebruska; mother, Elaine Lebruska; brother, Kelly Lebruska; sister-in-law, Stephanie Lebruska; sister, Lori Lebruska; sister-in-law, Denise (Greg) Hendricks; niece, Ashley (David) Maez and their children, Liam and Ariana; nephew, Cameron (Bethany) Hendricks and their daughter, Daisy; and many extended family and friends.
