

Jerold Louis “Jerry” McKibbin died unexpectedly Tuesday, February 5 in Green Valley, Arizona. He was cremated at his request. Jerry was born March 29, 1938 in Bayard, Nebraska to Mac and Margo McKibbin. He attended Bayard Public Schools through the eighth grade, and high school at Missouri Military Academy in Mexico, MO, graduating in 1956. Jerry attended college at Colorado A & M (now Colorado State University) in Ft. Collins and Barnes Business College in Denver. He followed his father into the banking field and over the years was affiliated with Scottsbluff National Bank, First National Bank of Bayard, Cheyenne National Bank and First Security Bank in Miles City, MT. In 1978 he returned to Gering as a partial owner of the Bank of Gering and the Minatare State Bank. In 1959, he married Jane Reynolds of Imperial, NE. To this union, two children were born: Delni and Randy. The family resided in Miles City, MT for 12 years. Jerry was a member of the Miles Community College Board, the Town and Country Club, the Lions Club and played softball for many years. The marriage ended in 1980. In 1984, Jerry married Beth (Stingley) Planer at Gering. The couple resided at Little Lake Alice northeast of Scottsbluff until 1990 when they moved to Minnesota. They resided in the Twin Cities area where Jerry worked for the Minneapolis Golf Club and assisted with the 1991 US Open Golf Tournament at Hazeltine Golf Club in Chaska, MN. In 1994 the couple moved to Omaha where Jerry worked for Highland Country Club and began a golf club building and repair business. He was an active member of Ashland Country Club and the Eastern Nebraska Senior Golf Assn. In 2000, the couple returned to Western Nebraska. They were currently residing at Lake Minatare and spent the winter months at their home in Green Valley, AZ. Jerry was an avid sportsmen his entire life. He loved watching his children and grandchildren compete in sports and school activities. He was an ardent supporter of WNCC volleyball and basketball and University of Nebraska football and volleyball. Golf was his passion and he played every day the weather cooperated and even some days when it didn’t. An informal gathering will be held for family and friends at Church of Christ , in Bayard, Sunday February 10 from 3 - 5. Another informal gathering will be held at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Home, Monday February 11, from 6 – 8. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, February 12 at 11am at Calvary Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff. There will be a private family graveside service. Jerry is survived by his father Harold L. “Mac” McKibbin of Scottsbluff; his wife Elizabeth Ann “Beth” of Lake Minatare and Green Valley, AZ; daughter Delni Jane McKibbin Rasmussen of Omaha; son and daughter-in-law Randall Louis and Micki McKibbin of Bayard; grandchildren: Matthew Rasmussen and Joshua Rasmussen of San Francisco, CA; Micah Rasmussen of Omaha; Hannah Rasmussen of Billings, MT; Mitchell, Carlie and Shelbie McKibbin of Bayard; and many extended family and friends, including his classmates from Missouri Military Academy and his golf buddies in Nebraska and Arizona. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret “Margo” McKibbin in 2001, and his grandparents.
