John ""Johnny"" Henry Russell

John “Johnny” Henry Russell, 21, of Gering, died March 21, 2016 as the result of injuries he received in an automobile accident west of Mitchell. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Monday, March 28, 2016 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel. Cremation will follow. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the First Christian Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Nona Hodder officiating. The family requests black attire and contributions of Nutella may be brought to the service and will be distributed to the Mitchell Schools for their backpack program. Johnny was born October 10, 1994 at Olympia, Washington to James David and Charlotte Marie (Sewell) Russell. The family moved to Sacramento, CA and then to Mitchell, NE where Johnny received his education, graduating from Mitchell High School with the Class of 2012.

Johnny currently worked at Vertex, was a welder, and was attending college to become a Civil Engineer. He loved spending time with his family, loved music, and participating locally in the MMA events.

Johnny is survived by his mother Charlotte Sewell Russell of Gering; sister Charlene Madsen; brothers Matthew, Andrew, and Jimmy (Molly); nieces Makayla, Megan, and Amy Madsen; nephew Thomas Madsen; several close friends including Kate Zander and the Patterson Family; and aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.

Johnny was preceded in death by his father and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
