John Matejka

John Paul Matejka came into this earthly life on Wednesday, March 24, 1954 at Alliance, Nebraska. John was the youngest of five children of Paul and Ruth (Munger) Matejka. He died and entered into eternal rest with his Creator on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. A celebration of John’s life will be held at the Alliance United Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2014, with Pastor Tom Lucas officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Alliance Cemetery in Alliance, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church, the American Cancer Society, or donor’s Choice. John attended Alliance Public Schools, and graduated from Alliance High School with the class of 1972. He then attended St. Joseph’s School of Practical Nursing in Alliance. Through his career, John worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Good Samaritan Nursing Home and Highland Park in Alliance, as well as at the Hemingford Nursing Home in Hemingford, Nebraska. As a nurse, John was a constant encourager, as well as friend, to all of the residents for whom he cared.

John was a member of the United Methodist Church in Alliance. Through his life, John has enjoyed helping others, and was a constant helper for his parents, and for others as he also provided private duty nursing when there was a need. He enjoyed his flowers, and his dogs Scruffy and Petey.

Left to treasure his memory include his father, Paul of Alliance; brother, Paul Jr. (Susan) Matejka of Colorado Springs, CO; sisters; twin sister, Jane Matejka, and sister Merrily (Jim) DeBusk, all of Alliance; brother-in-law Neil Kloppenborg of Eustis, Nebraska; many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

John is preceded in death by his mother, Ruth; sister, Susie Kloppenborg; great-niece Mackenzie Latimer; special friend, Ron Irish; his dog Scruffy, and numerous aunts and uncles.
