

John Franklin Webb, 87, of Scottsbluff, died Sunday, November 11, 2007 at Heritage Estates in Gering. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Clement officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park with military rites by the Nebraska National Guard. Memorials have been established to Prairie Haven Hospice or to Bible Baptist Church. Friends may call at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel between 4:00 -8:00 p.m. Tuesday. John was born October 31, 1920 in Calvin, Oklahoma to Harvey Franklin and Bennie Ann (Bearintine) Webb. He received his education in Calvin and worked for the Conservation Corps Camp in the Oklahoma District. He entered the Army in June of 1942 and served with the 85th Infantry Division under General Omar Bradley. He served in North Africa, Italy and France receiving the Belgium Citation, Combat Infantry Badge, and 3 Battle Stars. John married Margarette M. Johnson December 26, 1946 in Bayard, NE. He reenlisted in the Army in Jan of 1946 and served as an army recruiter in Scottsbluff and Alliance before being transferred to Fort Lewis, Washington and later to Alaska. He was honorable discharged in 1950 and returned to Scottsbluff where he was employed by John Sample House Moving and later as a diesel mechanic for Farmland Industries. He retired in 1982 after thirty-five years of employment. John was an avid fisherman and gardener and loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife: Margarette; daughters and sons-in-law: Linda and Charles Anderson, Pine Bluffs, WY, and Wanda and Ed Kimbrough of Belvidere, IL; son and daughter-in-law: John and Judy Webb of Neligh, NE; brothers: Harold (Jean) Webb, Morrill, NE, Utah Webb, Torrington, WY and Eldon Webb, St. Louis, MO; sister: Edna Faye Cook, Scottsbluff, NE; grandchildren: Bronwin (Jamie) Hanshew, Laif (Sondra) Anderson, Melanie Webb and fiancé Preet Parmar, and Michaela (Mark) Roush; great grandchildren: Bryce Hanshew, Jaydeen Hanshew, Elliot Anderson and Tanith Roush. John was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Bill, James, Albert and Dennis Webb, sisters: Millie Freed, Dorothy Miller, OllieWebb and Gladys Schwartzkopf and great grandchild Shelby Anderson.
