Joyce P. Murray

Joyce P. Murray, 70, passed away from ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) on October 18, 2012 at Heritage Estates in Gering. Joyce requested no memorial service, and her cremated remains will be interred at Sunset Memorial Park in Scottsbluff. A memorial fund has been established to The ALS Association, P.O. Box 6051 Albert Lea, MN 56007-6651. Joyce was born September 2, 1942 in Wichita Falls, TX to June (Schumacher) and Elmer Murphy, both from Chadron, NE. After Elmer’s death in 1943, June married Richard Putman in 1947 and Dick became “Daddy” to Joyce for the rest of her life. Joyce and Jesse K. Murray were married April 4, 1964 and had one son, Craig. Joyce and Craig moved to Scottsbluff in 1985. She worked for Lockwood Corporation for seven years, and retired after ten years at First National Bank. Joyce graduated from Groton High School (South Dakota) in 1960. She received an Associate of Arts Degree from Colorado Woman’s College in 1962 and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Denver in 1964. She is survived by her special friend and mother June M. Putman, who resides at Northfield Villa Vista, her son Craig of Castle Rock, CO and four grandchildren.
