

Juanita V. Castillo, 85, of Gering, died Saturday, December 23, 2006, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. A funeral mass will be held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, December 28, 2006, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Gering with Father Gerald Harr officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. A vigil service will be 6:30 P.M., Wednesday, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff. Friends may visit from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday at the funeral home. Juanita was born June 2, 1921, at Beeville, Texas to Arturo and Teresa (Garcia) Valls. She married Agustin Castillo August 14, 1943, in Webb County, Texas. They moved to Napa, California before moving to Scottsbluff in 1953, where she has resided since. She was a foster grandparent for 22 years. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Agustin (Jean) Castillo of Fremont, Anthony (Cindy) Castillo of Kearney, Frank (Sandy) Castillo of Fremont, Jane (Armando) Mendoza of Gering, Rosie (Demetrio) Jimenez of Amarillo, Texas, Pedro (Lucy) Castillo of Gering, Lupe (Richard) Mendez of Fremont, Rita Castillo of San Antonio, Texas and Gerald Castillo of Merino, Colorado; brothers, Gilbert Valls of Laredo, Texas, Pete Valls of Omaha and Arthur Valls of Saginaw, Michigan; sisters, Adela Gonzales of Laredo, Texas, Zulema Miranda of Omaha, Manuela Rodriquez of Corpus Christi, Texas and Teri Chamberlain of Omaha; 41 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter, Mary; son, Paul; and sister, Emma Martinez.
