

Kathleen Elizabeth Hooper, 90, of Gering passed away at Golden Living Center Sunday, July 13, 2008. Her memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Ron Nuss-Warren officiating. Friends may visit with her family at the conclusion of the service in the Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel hospitality room. Cremation was held at Sunset Memorial Park and her ashes interred at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Memorials have been established to Prairie Haven Hospice or to the Alzheimer’s Association. Kathleen was born January 29, 1918 in Omaha, NE to John F. and Orah (Squires) Tierney. She grew up in Broken Bow and Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1935 and attended Scottsbluff Junior College. She worked for Scotts Bluff County until her marriage to Sabin G. Hooper in 1940. Sabin was employed by Great Western Sugar Company, and the family moved frequently until returning to Gering in 1960. Kathleen enjoyed time spent with her friends and loved a good game of Bridge. She was also an avid reader. Her greatest pleasure in life was raising her four children and enjoying time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her children Jerry (Mary) Hooper, Arvada, CO, Jo Anne (Pat) Fitzgibbons of Westminster, CO, Helen Hooper (David Boardman) of Arvada , CO, son-in-law Larry Knaub of Gering, 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson, brothers, John Tierney of Florida and Bernard Tierney of Denver, CO, sister Patricia Tierney, Virginia, sister-in-law Ruthanne Hooper, Scottsbluff and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Sabin in 1994 and her daughter Beth Knaub in 2008.
