Kevin Michael O’Brien

Kevin Michael O’Brien, 69, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away on February 28, 2026. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, March 9, 2026, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff, with Reverend Jeff Grams and Pastor Phil Found officiating. A memorial fund has been established in care of his family; it will be designated at a later time.

Kevin was born on December 20, 1956, in Alliance, Nebraska. He was the fourth of four children born to Arlo and Wilma (Newton) O’Brien. He attended Alliance Public Schools and graduated in 1976.

He later moved to Scottsbluff, where he worked at the Panhandle CO-OP grocery store, the Village Twin movie theater, and Kmart. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Kevin had a lifelong love of science fiction and horror films. He especially enjoyed collecting Star Trek and Star Wars items, a hobby that brought him joy throughout his life. He also cared for many pets over the years, including dogs, reptiles, and fish.

Kevin is survived by his brothers, Ed (Susan) O’Brien and Brent (Kim) O’Brien, both of Scottsbluff; his sister, Michelle (Steve) Kaiser; and seven nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
