Lenora Clara Leafgreen

Lenora Clara Leafgreen 86, of Gering, NE died October 23, 2009 at her home at Northfield Villa/Vista. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 31, 2009 at the Northfield Villa Chapel with Pastor Brad Gustafson officiating. Inurnment will be at East Lawn Cemetery in Minatare for immediate family prior to the service. Memorials have been established to Prairie Haven Hospice and First Presbyterian Church. Lenora was born on January 29, 1923 in Scottsbluff, NE to Alex and Katherine Elizabeth (Steinbrecher) Behm. She attended elementary school at Fairview 50 and graduated from Minatare High School in 1940. Lenora married Roger F. Leafgreen on July 24, 1945, and they raised three children: Roger Jr., Douglas, and Susan. The family moved to Scottsbluff in 1959, and Roger and Lenora moved to Northfield Villa/Vista in 2007. Lenora enjoyed playing bridge and belonged to numerous card clubs. She was a wonderful cook and invited family for Sunday dinner regularly. She was busy every summer canning and freezing produce from Roger’s prolific garden. She and Roger cooked for the soup kitchen at the First Presbyterian Church where they have been longtime members. She is survived by her husband Roger, sons Roger Jr., of Scottsbluff, Douglas (Melody) of Gering and daughter Susan (Mark) Masterton of Scottsbluff; four grandchildren: Toby (Robin) Leafgreen of Aurora, CO, Nicole (Jonathan Hoesch) of McKinney, TX, Lindsey Masterton (fiancé Matt Mahan) of Denver, CO, and Allen Masterton of Parker, CO; sister Mary Collins of Gering and brother Robert (Gayle) Behm of Scottsbluff, NE, five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Lenora was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Albert and Paul Behm and her sister Hedy Eberhardt. Lenora was a devoted wife and mother, and her family was her greatest joy.
