

Lila Ellard, 89, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, died June 1, 2022, at her home. Funeral services will be held at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel on Monday, June 6 at 2:30pm with burial at Bayard City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia and online condolences may be left at www.dugankramer.com.
Lila was born April 30, 1933, in Timberlake, South Dakota, to Albert and Ida (Dahlke) Kant. She received her early education from Alliance and South Dakota schools, graduating from Alliance High School. She married Julius King on October 23, 1950, and this union was blessed with one son. She was later united in marriage with Richard Ellard on April 25, 1975, and they made their home in Scottsbluff. Lila was a member of the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia, and she enjoyed polka dancing in the surrounding areas.
Survivors include Lila’s brother, Al Kant Sr.; Niece, Mary (Scott) Hamilton; Nephew, Al (Ellen) Kant Jr.; grandson, Christopher Kris; daughter-in-law, Janet Bauer; and step-daughter, Vicki Lairson-Schleicher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Husband, Richard Ellard; Son, Richard Kris; Sister, Lorraine Stevens; Nephew, Ed Stevens; and special friend, Al Kukas.
