

Lola E. Main, 85 of Gering, Nebraska died Monday, May 18, 2009 at the Mitchell Care Center. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Rachael LaBounty officiating. Interment will be at the Fr. McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials have been established to the Ft. McPherson National Cemetery. She was born on July 7, 1923 in Benkelman, Nebraska to Cyrus and Ruth (Stoutsenberger) Harper, the youngest of 13 children. She attended school in Benkelman. She moved to her sister, Goldie Collier in California, because her future husband, Orval J. Main, where he was stationed in the Army there. They married July 7, 1942 in Las Angeles, California. The couple moved to Benkelman, NE., and later moved to Palisade, NE, where she raised her children. She was the owner and operator of a restaurant. They moved to Gering in 1990, because they loved the area and Gwenn was there. She loved her jobs and co-workers. She worked several years at the Dayco Hose Plant in McCook. She enjoyed meeting people and crafts. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a caretaker for her family. Her faith was very strong. She is survived by her daughters, Sonya Houghtelling and husband, Kenny of Holyoke, CO and Gwenn Greeley and husband, Terry of Gering, NE.; 4 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ruby Harper of Longmont, CO and Idabelle Harper of Benkelman, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 12 brothers and sisters.
