Louise Ann Kniss, 92, of Gering, Nebraska departed this earthly life and went to the arms of her Lord and Savior, Tuesday October 7, 2025. Her Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Zion Evangelical Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Andrew Griess officiating. A private family burial service will precede the Memorial Service. Memorials in Louise’s honor may be given to the Zion Evangelical Awana program.
Louise was born on January 24, 1933, to loving parents, George and Millie Goss in Minatare, Nebraska. She was the youngest of 6 children. A few months after graduating from Minatare High School she met the love of her life, Elmer Kniss. They were married on November 30, 1952, at Bayard Hope Congregational (a church founded by both of their parents). Elmer and Louise then made their home on the farm in Bayard and to their union 3 children were born. Louise worked alongside her husband Elmer, raising their children and keeping the household together. They lived on the farm for over 40 years before moving to Scottsbluff in 1993.
Louise’s great faith was exemplified in her service to the church and to others. She was an active member of Zion Evangelical Church and served in the Women’s Guild for many years. She also loved being a volunteer shopper at Co-Op for United Way. Louise was a very loving and dedicated grandma, and nothing made her happier than having the grandchildren and great grandchildren over to visit. There were always good meals, home-baked cookies and snacks, toys to play with and lots of fun and games at her house. She devoted her life to loving each and every one of her children, all her grandchildren, and especially her husband Elmer. She has touched each of our hearts and will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by all of us.
Louise is survived by her daughter Kathleen Kniss; sons Greg (Jeanette) Kniss and Kevin (Kim) Kniss; Grandchildren Andrea (Brian) Keith, Scott Kniss and Austin (Sara) Kniss; great grandchildren Isaac and Lily Keith, Gibson and Gideon Kniss, and Easton, Eli and Emmitt Sauer.
Her parents, husband Elmer of 62 years and all her siblings preceded her in death.
