Having missed the first half of her life, I can’t begin to know the full version of Luella. It is only through a few scattered old photographs that the image of a young woman who married, relocated, bore & raised four children, and did some traveling to see her grandkids is glimpsed in my mind.  But, I am certain she captured a lot in life. 
As a grandson who got to spend much of my youth with her, she was a significant influence in my life. In the (my) beginning, her and grandpa represented god, rules, good meals, and stability. Later, thoughts of her and grandpa became fond memories, supportiveness, and lessons learned.  After reaching adulthood, I was able to recognize some of the personal character I was exposed to; for grandma that was someone who was a little dramatic, a bit worrisome, and a lot loving.
My top three strongest reflections about grandma:
1)	I never really understood her interest in sowing. Observing grandpa grab pliers and pull a needle from her thumb is still a heroic and vivid memory for me. That makes the Luella made quilt, I have, all the more special.
2)	I‘ve never been quite like everyone else, even in youth. She was the one who took me to art classes in an effort to find a niche for me in this world. I didn’t become an artist, but I can appreciate the effort to search for something I could be good at.
3)	I am still a little surprised that she responded so strongly every time I walked in the room with (my) blood all over me.  After all, she did raise 4 boys, right?
None of us, who knew her, can argue that she didn’t help influence us into what we are today. She left impressions.  I think of her regularly, and don’t expect that to ever change.

A long time ago some of you fellows worked at our ranch for the summer. I will never forget how much fun you were. Edna Fisher is a one of my patrons on the mail route out of Hemingford. I'm sorry for the loss of your mother. I'm sure she was wonderful. mother, grandmother and friend to many. My grand father was Earl Hendersn. My little brother aquired the nickname Butch from one of you a name he still wears. God Bless you all as you mourn the loss of your mother

Such a beautiful picture - much like the one I remember of her 50 years ago when we visited Haig and she was standing by our car saying good bye.   I last stopped to see her when in Scottsbluff I don't know how many years ago but was hard to visit due to her lack of hearing.  I am sorry another chapter in our family history has left us but feel comforted knowing the family is having another joyful reunion in heaven.
