Mabel Marie Hickox Warner

Mabel Marie Hickox Warner, formerly of Gering, Nebraska, passed away April 22, 2015 at Perkins Nursing Home of Hastings. A service will be held at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff, Nebraska 12:30 pm Sunday, April 26, 2015. Private interment will be at West Lawn Cemetery Gering, Nebraska. Mabel was born July 24, 1925 to Harry Hickox and Agnes C. Peterson Hickox of Mitchell, Nebraska. She attended kindergarten through high school graduation at Mitchell Public School. She married Melvin Warner on November 22, 1943 in Torrington, Wyoming. They raised the family of four on farms in the Mitchell area. Mabel worked at Graymar Manor in Gering and Heritage Manor until she retired in 1997. She then made doll clothes for Jenny Ann’s of Gering.

Mabel had a lifelong love of dolls and she made doll clothes for all her grandchildren and great grand- daughters. She crocheted beautiful treasures for her family and friends. Mabel spent many cherished days with her youngest grandchild, Sarah, who lived in the area. She was a handy carpenter and took pride in her yard.

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, four brothers and a son, Richard.

Mabel is survived by her son Jerry and his wife, Barbara of Omaha, daughter Patricia Messner of Gering and, son Don and his wife, Mary Ann of Hastings, eleven grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
