Marcelo Solis ‘Junior’ Requejo Jr., 59, died peacefully in his sleep Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at his home in Morrill with his wife and young son beside him. A Celebration of Life will be held at noon Friday, Jan. 22, at his home in Morrill, followed by a 2 p.m. balloon release. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Morrill. Memorials may be made to his son, Jamieson Requejo. Junior was born Oct. 14, 1950, in Scottsbluff to Marcelo Sr. and Inez (Solis) Requejo. The oldest of eight siblings, he grew up in Texas before returning to Nebraska to farm. He loved to work, hauling beets and maintaining his trucks and trailers. He loved discussing new ideas with his wife and theorizing new solutions to old problems. His quiet contemplative nature couldn’t disguise his strength and vitality. Junior had a wonderful sense of humor and secretly had nicknames for almost everyone he knew. He also appreciated good food and was a good cook himself. He would brush off compliments saying only “he cooked with love.” Juniors passing will leave a void that can never be filled. Survivors include his wife, Catherine (Southard) and young son, Jamieson Requejo; Frances Canales of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Robert Requejo of Cheyenne, Wyo., Mary Ann (Bill) Findlay of Minatare, Susan (Paul) Jaramillo of Colorado Springs, Colo., Eddie Requejo (Teresa Lemay), and Richard Requejo and Amy Requejo all of Scottsbluff; and granddaughter Marrissa of Torrington, Wyo. Preceding him in death were his parents, Marcelo Sr. and Inez Requejo.
