

Marcelo C. Requejo, Sr., 82, of Minatare, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2010, at his home. Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff. Cremation will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory in Scottsbluff. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Marcelo was born October 13, 1927, at Brady, Texas to Marcelo Chavez and Elena Zapata. His stepfather was Manuel Raquejo. He married Inez Solis, December 5, 1949, at La Mesa, Texas. He assisted farmers and did restaurant work throughout his years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and most of all his grandchildren. Survivors include his children, Marcelo Jr. (Cathy) Requejo of Morrill, Frances Canales of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Robert Requejo of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Mary Ann (Bill) Findlay of Minatare, Susan (Paul) Jaramillo of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Eddie Requejo (Teresa Lemay) and Richard Requejo and Amy Requejo all of Scottsbluff; 29 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 18 step-grandchildren; and 9 step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Isabel (Rosendo) Garcia and Jean Cruz all of Austin, Texas and Mary Helen Requejo of San Jose, California; brothers, Jesse Requejo of Sweetwater, Texas and Joe Requejo of Austin, Texas; aunts and uncles, Ramona Zapata-Benavides, Paula Zapata-Dominguez both of Austin, Texas, Jose (Lucia) Zapata of Slaton, Texas, Tiodula Zapata and Cecilia Chavez both of San Antonio, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Marcelo was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Inez Requejo; brother, Tony Requejo; sisters, Tommie Requejo and Nellie Requejo; and three grandchildren.
