Marilyn was born on October 18, 1951, in Willows, California, to Floyd “Slick” and Regina “Ginger” Baker. When she was in third grade, her family moved to Fort Collins, Colorado. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School and later graduated from Poudre High School in 1969.
Shortly after high school, Marilyn married Terry Sapp, and together they welcomed their daughter, Amy Sapp. She later married Barry Beckwith, with whom she shared many years and memories. Although their marriage eventually ended, they remained good friends.
Marilyn spent many years working for Tom Jones at Windsor Veterinary Clinic before building a career as an office manager and insurance coordinator in the dental field. She retired in 2016 and moved to Kimball, Nebraska, to live with her daughter.
To know Marilyn was to know someone who rarely sat still. She was a busybody in the very best sense of the word. From a young age, you could find her flying around on roller skates, water skiing at Horsetooth Reservoir and Boyd Lake, or chasing her next adventure. She loved camping, dancing, singing, and was always willing to take on a challenge. Whether it was trying something new or accepting a dare, Marilyn was usually all in.
She enjoyed her red beers, her Mary Jane, and making memories with the people she loved. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for making people laugh. She lived life with a free spirit, a stubborn streak, and a heart big enough to welcome just about anyone.
When she wasn’t spending time with family, she was often off on an adventure with her beloved “Golden Girls”—and they know exactly who they are. The lifelong friendships she maintained throughout her life are a testament to the kind of woman she was and the impact she had on those fortunate enough to know her.
Even as Alzheimer’s slowly stole pieces of her memory, it never took away her kindness, her smile, or the love she carried for her family.
Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Amy Sapp (Craig Aragon); God Son Josh Thompson aka Mo Howard; her grandchildren, Niko Sapp Alvarado, Anisha Morgan (Spencer Morgan), Jena Aragon, and Adrian Aragon; and her great-grandchildren, Laivyn, Tracer, and Bowen, all of whom brought her immeasurable pride and joy.
In true Marilyn fashion, we hope you’ll raise a red beer, tell a good story, laugh a little louder than usual, and remember that life is meant to be lived fully—preferably with family, friends, and just a little bit of mischief.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Lil Bits Bar and Grill, 3620 35th Ave, Evans, CO, on July 26, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
