

Marlene Elizabeth (Bangert) Weimer, 68 of Scottsbluff, Nebraska peacefully passed Saturday, October 29, 2005 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff with her family by her side. At her request, she has been cremated and per her wishes there will be no memorial services. Marlene was born July 19, 1937 at Bayard, NE., the daughter of Fred and Mollie (Walker) Bangert. She spent her childhood years growing up on the family farm with her seven siblings building fond memories that she later shared with her children and grandchildren. Marlene was baptized and confirmed at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bayard, where she actively attended Sunday school and sang in the church choir. She was educated and graduated from Bayard High School with the class of 1956. Marlene was married to John Weimer October 7, 1956, only to be later blessed with five children: Kimberly Sue, Tamra Dee, John Scott, Jerry Allen and Douglas Ray. Marlene will be forever remembered in individual precious ways by her family. One fond memory being her undoubted love and support and constant need to nurture. She was an amazing German cook and a perfectionist at baking. Marlene never hesitated to proudly brag about her family. Survivors include daughters Kimberly Underwood and husband Rod of Alliance, and Tamra Barnes and husband Harold of Scottsbluff; sons John “Scotty” Weimer of Scottsbluff and Douglas Weimer and wife Sherry of Gering; grandchildren Stephanie Morse and husband Brad of North Platte, NE, Shane Marsh of Gering, Lesta Marsh of Denver, Col, Kristan Lehl and husband Steven of Alliance, Derik Underwood of Alliance, Lindsey Weimer and Amber Steidley both of Gering; great grandchildren Zachary and Kyle Marsh of Gering, and Lauren Lehl of Alliance; sister Joan Pullen and husband Bill, Nadine McNabb and husband Ed all of Bayard, Sandra Flores and husband Isidro of New Braunfels, TX, sisters-in-law Barbara Bangert of Bayard, Hulda Weimer of Morrill, and Frieda Weimer of Scottsbluff; several nieces, nephews and special friends. She was preceded in death by her husband John (Feb. 7, 2005), infant son Jerry Allen, parents, brothers Fred Jr., Richard and Don (Aug. 13, 2005) and sister-in-law Lydia Bangert. Memory verse: God looked around his garden and found an empty place, God’s garden must be beautiful so he always takes the best. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn’t go alone. For part of us went with you the day God called you home
