Martin W. Furrey

Martin W. Furrey, 81, of Bayard, died December 7, 2005 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. At his request, cremation has taken place at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory in Scottsbluff. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 10, 2005, at the Assembly of God Church in Bayard with Don VanDeraa officiating. There will be a private family burial prior to the service. Martin was born February 3, 1924 in Elsmere, NE to Frank and Angeline (LaRue) Furrey, and received his early education in Ainsworth, NE. Martin was a member of the Nebraska Panhandle Country Music Association. He is survived by his soul mate Marlene Teppert; brother Floyd Furrey; sons Bill (Susan) Carter, Harry (Teresa) Furrey, Gary (Gail) Carter, Michael (Melody) Furrey; daughters Maryann (Dennis) Coleman, Frances Kral, Ruth (Rick) Glassburn, Myra (Delbert) Getzel, Susan Williamson, Glenda (Zion) Dutro; three sister-in-laws, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. His granddaughter Wendy Carter, two grandsons Marty Kinney and Roy Main; mother Angeline Weeks, wife Alice Furrey, two sons Maynard and Floyd Furrey, son-in-law Harvey Kral, five brothers and two sisters precede him in death.
