Marvin Ross Hewett, age 83, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away on May 21, 2026, at Regional West Medical center surrounded by family and friends. He was born on April 16, 1943, to Ross and Hazel Hewett of Bayard, Nebraska.
Marvin will be remembered for his love of Christ and the church, his willingness to help anyone in need, always being a jokester, his love of westerns and rodeos, and always being a hard worker. He worked on his family farm until he started hauling livestock at age 15. He was a trucker through and through until the age of 78. He spent his last years at home with his family and friends.
Marvin married Janet Duyck (Hewett) on June 9, 1963, in Scottsbluff, NE. They moved many times through the years but ultimately ended up back in Scottsbluff, NE. They had three children, Steve Hewett, Paul Hewett, and Colette Hewett.
Marvin is survived by his wife Janet Hewett; children Steve Hewett, Paul Hewett, and Colette Hewett; grandchildren Destiny Belford (Sara Schott and Ellie Crawford), Judy Belford, and Joshua Flowers; sister Dora Paben, sister-in-law Jackie Lockman; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ross and Hazel Hewett; in-laws Joe and Alice Smith, and Morris Duyck; sisters Ruby Kuxhausen, Janet Denham, and Judy Hewett; brother Gerald Hewett; brother-in-law Ron Duyck and Marvin Duyck; and great grandson Brandon Crawford.
A memorial will be held on June 5, 2026, at 10:00am at Central Church of Christ in Gering, NE.
