Mary was born on February 14, 1943 in Loraine, Texas to Raymond and Louisa (Bugarin) Barraza. In 1950, Mary came to Nebraska and shortly after, in 1960, united in marriage to Mike Hernandez Sr., they had three daughters and two sons. Mary and her husband enjoyed many years on the farm, south of Lyman, raising their children. In 1985, they moved to Morrill.
Mary cherished a life full of Christ and spending time with family and friends. Grams spent time cooking and baking for her family. She enjoyed crocheting doilies and knitting blankets. There wasn’t a day that grams didn’t spend caring for her love birds and parakeets and Buddy, her dog. Grams also loved cheering on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at school events. She was a “grams” to many other children as well.
Mary is survived by numerous brothers and sisters; children; Mary Jane (Marcus) Quevedo, Mike (Angela) Hernandez; Martin (Coleen) Hernandez; Marcella (John) Urdiales; and Marie (Fernando) Perez, grandchildren; Adrian (Marcella) Quevedo and Cory Quevedo, Michael, Chris and Heather Hernandez, Stacy (Fernando) Rodriguez, Nathan (April) Hernandez, Sara and Abraham Hernandez, Brandon (Nicole) Urdiales, Brittany (Josh) Duarte, and Andrew Urdiales, Anthony (Tiffany) Perez, Christian, Natasha, and Kadin Perez; great-grandchildren, Santiago and Olivia Quevedo, Quintyn and Maison Quevedo, Michael IV and Somara Hernadez, Bella, Zechariah, Jayden, and Christopher Hernandez, Sebastian, Lexi, and Liam Rodriguez, Nesiah, Breeley, and Drayden Hernandez, Nevaeh, Urijah, and Dominick Urdiales, Zoey, Zaylee, and Zeniyah Duarte, and baby Perez on the way.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of forty-nine years, Mike Hernandez Sr., brother Steve Barraza, sister Margaret Lopez, mother Louisa, and father Raymond Barazza.
Grams has touched many lives and for that she will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
