

Mary Maxine Morgan. 94, of Scottsbluff passed away Friday, May 18 at Heritage Estates in Gering. As per her request cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 24 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ed Hunzeker officiating. Mary was born January 27, 1918 in Mallard, Iowa to James Austin and Martha Ann (Fish) Ward. When she was eight years old she was baptized into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She graduated from Mallard High School in 1935. Mary married Kenneth Erven Morgan on July 2, 1935 in Davenport, Iowa and they made their home in Western Iowa and later Scottsbluff. They owned and operated Morgan’s Jack and Jill in Bayard. The most important thing in Mary’s life was her family. She enjoyed reading, music, reading and writing poetry. Mary is survived by her sons. Larry Don (Joanne) Morgan of Gering, and James Guy Morgan of Omaha, NE; daughters, Sandra Anne (John) Fiala of Phoenix, AZ, and Judy J. Morgan of Scottsbluff; grandchildren Shellie Sullivan, Elissa (Randy) Villaponds, Heather (Paul) Flanagan and Rebecca (Brinker) Harding; great-grandchildren, Chad Johannsen, Jon Lickliter, Erin Cooper, Michael Sullivan, Katherine Flanagan, Elizabeth Harding, Alana Flanagan, Grace Harding, Amber Villaponds and Tarryn Villaponds; and great-great-granddaughters, Regan and Riley. Preceding Mary in death is her husband; parents; brothers, Harley Austin and Norman B. Ward; sister, Alice Emericik; daughter-in-laws, Betty Morgan and Lana Morgan; grandson, Guy Ward Morgan; and granddaughter, Tracy Lickliter. Memorials can be made in Mary’s name to the YMCA or donor’s choice.
