At her request, cremation is taking place at Dugan Kramer Funeral Home in Scottsbluff Nebraska. Memorials may be given to The American Macular Degeneration Foundation (AMDF).
Pauline was born November 18th, 1943, in Gordon, Nebraska to Opal Wheeler and Robert Carter. She entered the military at the young age of 19. She was in the army from August of 1962 to November of 1963. After her honorable discharge she moved back to Nebraska to be with her family. Though she did not bare children in her lifetime, she fostered several deep relationships.
In her early 20’s she was in a car accident that broke her neck. The paramedics thought she was dead on arrival but discovered her to be still alive when a tear went down her face. She went through many surgeries and was told she would most likely never walk again. She fought courageously to be able to walk and she sure did it! Through all the trials and tribulations in her life her heart remained gentle.
Pauline loved to watch football especially the Minnesota Vikings and the Nebraska Huskers. The football Sundays would always include some company, hors d'oeuvres, and drinks. She enjoyed garage sales, true crime, gambling, Avon, cooking, her pets, and gardening. She loved to dress with eye catching fashion. Most of all she loved hosting gatherings at her and her mother’s home with family members, friends, and everyone in between. Pauline led a great life, full of spunk, love, and kindness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings (sister Harlana & husband Gary Olsen and brother David Wheeler), and a very close friend John Montgomery.
Pauline is survived by her nieces and nephews, many friends, and extended family.
Special thanks to the people who were able to assist Pauline the past few years, John Montgomery, Sandra Burtis, Valinda Collins, all the friends she made at wildflower terrace, and Crestview Care Center Staff.
She will be greatly missed.
