

Phyllis J. (Keslar) Potter, 79 of Scottsbluff, Nebraska passed away Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Her memorial service will be held Friday, July 30, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Matt Fowler officiating. Inurnment will precede the service at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Cremation was held at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory. Memorials may be given to Prairie Haven Hospice. Phylliss Joyce Keslar Potter was born December 25, 1930 to Jess and Helen (Tatman) Keslar in a sod house on a farm near Stapleton, Nebraska. She received her early education in a one room school house in Lincoln County. She graduated from the Stapleton High School in 1948. She received a teaching certificate. After graduation, she moved to North Platte, Nebraska, while she was there she worked at St. Mary’s Hospital and the First National Bank. On June 11, 1950, she was united in marriage to Loren C. Potter. To this union three daughters were born: Patricia, Kathleen and Donna Carol. She lived a short time in Sidney, Nebraska and Alliance, Nebraska before moving to Gering, Nebraska in 1959. She was employed for nine years with K.N. Energy. After her resignation, she became an active volunteer for Regional West Medical Center and Prairie Haven Hospice. She was actively involved with the Trinity United Methodist Church of Gering for many years service in many leadership positions. She was active with the United Methodist Womens group and served four years on the District. In 1994, she became a member of the Scottsbluff United Methodist Church. She was also active with Church Women United. She is survived by her husband Loren; daughters Patricia Lee and husband Paul, Kathleen Hubbard and husband Robin and Donna Carol Hoppens; grandsons: Clay Lee, Stace Lee and Aric Hubbard; granddaughters: April Ott and her husband Andrew, Victoria Hoppens and August Hoppens; great grandchildren: Whitney Hubbard, Hayli Hubbard, Mara Hubbard, Katelyn Ott, Allison Ott and Alex Hubbard; twin sister, Donna Abel and special cousin Clara Ewoldt. She was preceded in death by her father and mother and brothers Byron, Fred, Riley and J.R.
