Richard Clinton Ellard

Richard Clinton Ellard, 78, of Scottsbluff, died Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2006 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ron Nuss-Warren officiating. Interment will be in the Bayard Cemetery with military honors by the Nebraska National Guard. Richard was born November 7, 1927 in Bayard, NE to Frank and Dessa (Kern) Ellard. He received his education in Bayard where he graduated from high school. He served in the US Navy during WW II. Richard owned and operated a furniture store, apartment building, truck stops in Nebraska and Colorado and motels in Sidney and Kimball. He married Lila Kriz April 25, 1974 in Cheyenne, WY. Richard was a lifetime member of Eagles Aerie #136 of Alliance, NE. He is survived by his wife: Lila; daughters and son-in-law: Connie Scott-Lay of Douglas, WY and Vicki Lairson-Schleicher and her husband Steve Schleicher of Fort Collins, CO; grandchildren: Rashell and Dave Minch of Elizabeth, CO, Tim Lairson, Claremont, CA, Rick and Jamie Scott of Minatare, NE, Carma and Larry Studer of Parker, CO; 9 great grandchildren; sisters: Betty Rose of Prescott Valley, AZ and Dorothy Popp of Scottsbluff, NE; and brother: Leonard Ellard of Ogallala, NE. Preceding him in death are his parents, baby daughter and sister Violet Snyder.
