Rose Mary (Stewart) Walrath went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 29, 2026, exactly one week after the passing of her beloved husband, Ed.
Rose Mary was born on August 1, 1940, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Mary Louise (Gemmaka) Stewart and Hubert Anderson Stewart. She graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1958 and then attended Dallas Christian College.
On February 26, 1960, Rose Mary married Edwin G. Walrath in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They moved to Port Angeles, Washington, where their first daughter, Miriam, was born. Later, they adopted their daughter, Kim, and moved to Illinois, where they made their home for 54 years before moving to Nebraska in 2020 to be closer to family.
Rose Mary’s faith and love for her church were important parts of her life. She especially enjoyed singing and found many meaningful ways to volunteer and serve others. Her church family was a cherished part of her life, and the faith she lived out was a lasting gift to those who knew and loved her.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Ed; her parents; her infant son, Jay Stewart Walrath; her daughter, Miriam Sloop; her granddaughter, Kimberly Joy Sloop; and her brothers, Bob and Jack Stewart.
She is survived by her daughter, Kim (Jeff) Holloway; grandchildren Andrew (Kate), Micah, Hannah (Tanner) Havens, Matthew, Nathan (Kiara), and Kylie (Caleb) Payne; great-grandchildren George, Elouise, Winifred, Marlee, Evelyn, Liam, and Ike; sisters-in-law Virginia Cordova, Cheryl Stewart, Helen Campbell, and Cindy Scerri; son-in-law David Sloop; and several nieces and nephews.
Rose Mary will be remembered for her faith, her deep love for her family and friends, her kindness, and her witty sense of humor. She is now at peace in the presence of her Lord and reunited with all those who have gone before her.
