

Samuel Alexander Moore was born December 18, 1930 at Kilpatrick’s ranch to Samuel A. “Alex” Moore and Marguerite Henderson Moore. He died January 16, 2016 at Regional West Medical Center. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Marty Rostad officiating. He spent part of his early years on the family ranch north of Henry, Nebraska and in Alliance, Nebraska where he graduated from high school in 1948. He attended Colorado State University and Chadron State College. From 1951 to 1955 he served in the Navy during the Korean conflict. During that time he served on the Catfish and Spinax submarines.
After the Navy he returned to the ranch where he raised his beloved Hereford cattle. He married Majel Wisner on November 29, 1958 in Scottsbluff Nebraska.
Sam was a Blue Lodge Mason, and 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was also a member of the Legion, VFW, Elks, Shriners, Catfish Western Plains Base, American and Nebraska Hereford Associations, National Western Stock Show Association, and was a 4-H leader. His passion was traveling with his cattle to numerous shows all over the nation. He was also a judge at the National Western Stock Show for several years.
Sam is survived by daughters Dana (Scott) Yetter, Renee Russell and ex-husband Scott Russell; granddaughter Laci Moore and Matt Schanaman; great granddaughter D’veigh Leigh Moore Schanaman, “daughter” Lori Lay Niemeyer. He is also survived by nephews Ryan Uglow and Jim Wisner, nieces Jamie Elwood and Janine Mayo and sister-in-law Cleora Nelson.
He was preceded in death by his wife Majel, his parents and step-father Paul Griffin; father-in-law and mother-in-law Floyd and Pearl Wisner; sister-in-law Marcia Uglow and brother-in-law F. Eugene Wisner.
